The SPC system is a set of underwater microscopes with real-time image processing and object detection. It was designed to detect objects from tens of microns up to several centimeters. It employs darkfield illumination to enhance the contrast of transparent objects. This system has captured many detailed images of plankton and other microorganisms. We took those images and placed them on a webpage so everyone can view them. Click on the plankton images below to see the images we captured at different aspect ratios and sizes.
