Jaffe Laboratory for Underwater Imaging

I am interested in statistical signal processing, machine learning, computer vision, and oceanography. My current research is in developing parameter estimation and classification algorithms in order to extract biophysical information (such as size, shape, and taxa) from multiview, broadband, acoustic scattering from marine animals. In addition to the acoustical work, we are also developing methods for combining multiview optical images with acoustic data to improve system performance. The goal of the research is to develop new tools that improve our ability to remotely survey marine animals in the ocean.
