Ocean Adventurer - Editor Page
OCEAN ADVENTURERGame Overview:Ocean Adventurer is an interactive online game designed to educate middle and high school students about marine science. Editors have the ability to create new levels or enhance current ones on the "Level Editor" page found here. As the game designer, let players explore new areas by adding new backgrounds, animals and sounds. Overall, the creator sets the probability of finding an object at a certain area on the map, which will affect the player's chance of finding that object. Remember, each level should be designed in a way that it is realistic to the ocean and in the end educates the player about marine science. In addition to being realisitic in placing the objects in the map, the description for the level objective, animal and acoustic findings are also very crucial. The level objective is the first description the player will encounter so it needs to provide a firm understanding of the level goal. The description throughout the game should give players a better understanding of their findings. Descriptions need to inform what was found, some facts about the object, and how that object is related to the objective of the level.Technical Details:The chosen background picture acts as a "map" of where the student is exploring. So far the levels are bird's eye views of the ocean with grids representing longitude and latitude lines but the background could be easily changed to be a tide pool, a river or the inner body of a whale! Grid lines assist students record the location of their findings but it is not required. Details on how to best create grid lines on the background picture can be found on pg 2 in the manual PDF attached below. Step by step instructions on creating a level and uploading images can be found in the attached walkthrough PDF below. Furthermore, icons and buttons can also be changed or added to improve user interface.Screenshots of Game Editing:
